If you're in Surrey, BC, and craving an authentic taste of Pakistani cuisine, look no further than Barney's Karahiwala Restaurant. Nestled at 12889 84 Ave Unit 105, this charming eatery specializes in traditional dishes that draw on rich flavors and age-old recipes, making it a must-visit for both locals and adventurous foodies alike. With a bustling atmosphere that invites friends and families to gather, Barney's offers a spice-filled getaway that transports you straight to the heart of Pakistan.

The star of the menu, as the name suggests, is the karahi—a type of curry cooked in a wok-like pot which is a staple of Pakistani fare. Diners rave about the various karahi offerings, such as the Shinwari Karahi, celebrated for its robust flavors, and the Koila Karahi, which is known for its smoky essence. If you prefer a mix, the Kabab Karahi delivers a delightful fusion that keeps patrons coming back for more. Each dish is expertly spiced, ensuring that every bite bursts with flavor, while the well-made naan, though a subject of varying reviews, pairs perfectly with the hearty curries to mop up every last drop of curry goodness.

Barney's is not just about food; it embodies a warm, inviting environment where service often feels personable. Many patrons, like Nilima Sibi, have praised the quick service and the friendly demeanor of staff members, especially highlighting employees like Arpan who add a touch of genuine hospitality to the experience. However, some guests have pointed out areas for improvement, including a need for a cleaner restroom and better management of food availability, which can detract from an otherwise stellar dining adventure.

For those looking to indulge without breaking the bank, the buffet days present an exceptional value, featuring a plethora of dishes. As noted by shilpa mahey, you can savor diverse options from fried fish to sweet halwa, making it an enticing option for anyone wanting to experience a range of flavors. Just make sure to keep an eye on your requests, such as tea refills, to ensure a seamless dining experience.

The feedback from customers like samra khalid attests to the authenticity and craftsmanship of the dishes. Each karahi is a unique culinary story, reflecting the vibrant traditions of Pakistani cooking. Whether you're dining in or taking out, you can expect flavors that dance on your palate and a feeling of satisfaction that lingers long after your meal.

In summary, whether you're looking for a quiet meal or a lively gathering spot with friends, Barney's Karahiwala Restaurant has something for everyone. Dive into the heartwarming spirit of Pakistani cuisine and let your taste buds explore the rich, aromatic flavors that await. One visit will surely leave you yearning for more!

I recently ordered chicken karahi from Barney's Karahiwala for the first time. I called ahead and asked about portion sizes, and the girl on the phone told me that a half portion serves two people. Based on that, I ordered two half portions. When I arrived to pick up the food, I discovered there's a "full" option that serves the same amount but costs $10 less. When I asked why I was being charged $60 instead of $50, her response was, "Oh, I packed it in two boxes." That was a bit cheeky, and honestly, I felt misled. She could've easily told me that a full portion was available and would save me money. The food itself was okay, naans were amazing —no complaints there—but I’m docking one star for the lack of transparency and upselling without informing the customer. A little honesty goes a long way.

We ordered the Shinwari Karahi with naan. The karahi was flavorful — adding a few whole green chilies would make it even better. Naan was a bit too thin for our liking. Overall, a good experience. Just wish the bathroom was cleaner — that would really elevate the place.

Hi Me and my husband went in for lunch. It was a buffet day. Karahi chicken- naan ,chole-bhature, fried fish , mutton soup, french fries and halwa. Food was tasty and staff was refilling the food hot and fresh. Tea was finished in the kettle nearby the buffet so we ordered to refill but it took longer time so we left . Although the experience was good, but i think they need to work on their Service.staff looked very tired and exhausted. Personally i feel, food choices were less as per the price of per plate.

We had a great experience dining here! The food was absolutely fantastic! We ordered the Koila Karahi, Garlic Naan, and Rogni Naan, and everything was full of flavour and served piping hot. The service was quick too, our food arrived within 30 minutes. A special shoutout to Arpan who took our order; she was incredibly kind and friendly, which made the experience even better. Would definitely come back again!

Excellent experience of having authentic scrumptious karahis(Koila, Shinwari and kabab karahis). Each karahi was unique in taste with a perfect blend of flavors and masalas. Best service by friendly staff. They came repeatedly to check if anything was needed. Though the main dine-in hall was full and was no table to accommodate our group of 12 people but they offered us the buffet area space on second floor. Great ambience with family friendly environment. Highly recommended for KARAHI and TANDOORI NAAN LOVERS!!! Go dine-in or takeout!! Butter naans, Koila karahi, kabab boneless karahi and lamb shinwari karahis all became our favorite ???????? and so as fresh tandoori buttery naans.

Ordered their karahi and naan. Shinwari karahi was very good. Their bathroom is very nasty and no tissue. They had alot of things on the menu but they were out of almost everything.
